Open Stay

November 12-17

Recharge with a Hula Community Retreat. Focused on community, mind, body, & spirit, Hula's retreats are designed to connect members of the Hula community over unique experiences in new environments. Fostering a culture of balance and work/play was a founding principle of Hula, and we're expanding that concept beyond Vermont.

What is the cost? Villa Playa Maria (VPM) is available for Hula guests and friends at a rate of $200/night single occupancy & $300/night double occupancy for a standard room. There are eight bedrooms each with a full bathroom. Room selection is on a first come, first served basis. Rooms are furnished with either a single king-sized bed or two queen beds. Please indicate your preference when registering.

What is included in the cost? Your nightly rate covers your room accommodations on Maria's Beach in Rincon. Each room is air conditioned with cozy linens and furniture. Each bathroom has custom made shampoo, conditioner, and body wash from our friends at Lunaroma for your convenience. VPM provides beach towels & reef safe sunscreen for your convenience. All guests have access to the salt water pool and shared kitchen for morning coffee and meals.

Is airfare included? You'll need to arrange and pay for your own airfare. Flights are available from Burlington through Newark (United Airlines) or JFK (JetBlue) to the Rafael Hernandez International Airport (BQN) in Aquadilla for those willing to do the late night flight. For day time travel, book your flight to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan and plan on a 2 hour taxi or car service to get you to the villa.

Is food included? You will be billed additionally for food. We offer group grocery service for breakfast and lunch and a catered dinner service every evening from our in-house chef. The dinner service is family style and includes everyone staying at the villa. This is a great opportunity to sit with all your fellow retreat guests to make new friends, share stories about the day, and enjoy an open air tasty cuisine served beachside.

How do I sign up? Click on the trip you're interested in, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the sign up button. From there you'll be taken to the Villa Playa Maria website to submit an inquiry for your stay. Once your request has been received, our VPM staff will reach out to you to confirm the details of your stay.

When will I be charged? Once you've completed your registration inquiry form, a staff member from the villa will be in touch with you to collect a deposit for your visit. Your final bill and invoice will be due on departure from the villa.

Can I book for a different time frame? Yes and No. You cannot book outside the date parameters provided, but you can stay for a shorter amount of time within that time frame. Please indicate your intended dates of stay in the “Notes” section when registering.

How do I know who else is going? Please send an email to retreats@hulalakeside.com for information about known confirmations of various dates and trips.

Can I bring non-Hula friends? Yes. Although these trips are intended for Hula members to connect with one another off site, you can certainly bring along any partners and friends to enjoy the fun.

Is there high-speed internet? The WiFi at the villa is decent, but not fully equipped to handle multiple zoom calls and such. However, the cellular data service for AT&T users is quite strong and can serve as a solid back up for those in need of faster bandwidth.

What is the closest airport? Rafael Hernandez International (BQN) is the closest airport with direct flights from the continental US. Eugenio María de Hostos Airport (MAZ) in Mayaguez has quick flights via Cape Air from San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU).
