Sive Mata’utia-Jarrard is a competitive surfer from Carlsbad, California, currently residing in Oahu, Hawaii. She is a member of the American Samoa Surf Team and has made significant strides in the world of longboard surfing. In 2024, she made history by becoming the first female surfer to represent American Samoa in the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour, qualifying through her victory at the Local Motion Surf Into Summer competition at Ala Moana Bowls in Hawaii.
In November 2024, Sive clinched her first WSL victory at the HIC Haleiwa Pro Longboard event, a significant achievement that secured her spot on the 2025 WSL Longboard Tour.
Sive's journey is deeply rooted in her Samoan heritage, with her mother being Samoan and her father French. She is the younger sister of Lucy Mata’utia-Jarrard, the first Samoan female surfer to represent American Samoa in international competitions. Together, they aim to inspire the next generation of Pacific Island surfers and honor their cultural connection to the ocean.
Through her achievements, Sive hopes to inspire other Polynesian girls to pursue surfing and water sports, emphasizing the importance of setting goals and taking actionable steps to achieve them.
