Lucy Jarrad

Lucy Jarrard is 22 years old, and I lives on the Westside of Oahu. She was raised in between Oceanside and Carlsbad, California until I turning 16 years old, when her parents decided to move to Hawaii. They wanted new beginnings for the family and that’s exactly what they found. In 2021, she became the first American Samoa female surfer to compete in the ISA (International Surfing Association) and is currently an olympic hopeful for 2024.

Lucy says, "I want to inspire more Samoans to surf and reconnect them with the ocean because they are ocean people! There is a misconception that only Hawaiians were voyaging and surfing in the Polynesian triangle, but we were all doing it. I want to be the voice and represent my small island through surfing."
